Final solution for reporters
Our Man sure knows what a pain those pesky reporters can be, always filing their copy late, burying the news deep in the story and making up quotes, but really, this Japan Times headline seems a little harsh punishment. Surely, just a bollocking from the editor would do.

I vote for a doki-doki gorilla solution: the three officials continue to insert swords into the gorilla's barrel until – BANG! - the trap door opens and [STENTORIAN VOICE OF NARRATOR] "the convict is hung, from the neck, until dead."

Or they could simply it further by inserting the swords directly into said reporters...?
Bring back DIY executions!
Ritual seppuku, with the Minister of Justice standing behind as a second, to lop off your head if you botch it.
Gets the job done, AND sustains important Japanese cultural traditions.
