Surplus to requirements - new Our Man in Abiko movie!

Well, here it is folks, at almost six minutes, the longest of Our Man's movies. Try and stay awake at the back there:

Oh, OK a few notes:

YouTube didn't like Our Man using Rod Stewart, so Our Man had to replace the soundtrack with something free from them, and blow me if it isn't even better. Check it out here.
All the facts an' figures were from this Kyodo article here based on official (ie undercounted) stats from the Japanese Cabinet office.
The (Our Man preferred) soundtrack is Rod Stewart's Every Picture Tells a Story, which holds up quite well apart from the "slit-eyed lady" lines, but hey, his heart was in the right place, and it was 1972 forfucksakes.
Most of the moving pictures were shot two weekends ago during the Abiko summer matsuri festival - hence all the kimonos and chocolate bananas.
The rest is merely details.

Fully agree on the music - I can't stand Rod "Using this dead albino rat I found in the dumpster as a wig will distract people from my horrible music" Stewart.

Unfortunately, your annotation on YouTube covers half the video. So I can either see the video with no sound, or hear the good music with no video.

Edit: fortunately the annotation disappears after a while. You only miss a little bit in the beginning.

Rod was OK in a cock-rock sort of way until he went disco. Some of his stuff with Ronnie Wood in the Faces was sublime. Well, at least amusing.

I enjoyed that, although the film quality could have been better in places. So...what will happen? Riots? (Have there ever been riots in Japan?)

WW - Yeah, Blip TV doesn't seem to have the copyright police out, but it uploaded at a lower res (or something like that). Riots? Of course, but they are blamed on Commies, Koreans or Commie-Korean sympathisers, Couldn't possibly be the well-behaved Japanese. Suicide is the more approved Japanese response to calamity, don't you know.

Yep, what's unreal is those stats are official too, so you know it's gotta be worse.

I don't know if you are allowed to do this kind of think on Japan politics related blogs are you? There are rules in this country and you know how everyone obeys them. Besides, unfettered creativity could cause confusion.

Anyway, nice job. Were I not so lazy, I'd steal the idea.

To end with a nitpick: The only problem is that the photos become huge globs of pixels at full screen.

I meant "this kind of thing."

DH - yes, a few technical problems with this vid. The huge globs of pixels were a surprise to Our Man - they are OK on the YouTube version, and of course OK on the master on his desktop. Had to use Blip TV cause YouTube didn't like the soundtrack (turns out other folk didn't like it too).

As for not being allowed to do something, well, Our Man will keep doing his thing until the cops arrive at the front door.
