A summit like no other

No, not Mt Fuji silly, the Obama-Aso summit of course. Here's what happened, in broadsheet headline form for all the smart cookies out there:

US vows to humour Japan on obsession with North Korean kidnappings

Japan agrees to supply US troops in Afghanistan with napkins

Er, that's about the size of it.

Chuckle-worthy headlines!

I seem to be forever chasing readers to other websites, but I hasten to assure you that I've also nudged a few discerning chaps in your direction. Chappettes, too, but as you've mentioned yourself, political blogging in Japan seems to be a male-dominated field. Don't know if you read fellow hack Richard Lloyd Parry? He was quiet for a long time, but has returned with a few interesting posts, including this one about the rather whimperish meeting between Aso and Obama (names in strict alphabetical order):

Yep. That's the best summary I have seen of it, although it may be just a bit sensationalized...

Well, the broadsheets are dumbing down, fighting for every last reader, don't ya know.

Sorry, thought you were referring to Our Man's humble post, not the Times' Man in Tokyo. The Times is, of course, now a tabloid (not that such distinctions mean anything at all these days, nor should they). RLP knows how to string a few words together.
