It seems they've been predicting the demise of the LDP at least as long as I've been having anything to do with Japan.
Which reminds me, if you have the chance, "Tokyo Underworld" by Robert Whiting is a good read. It's not about the LDP, but does provide some tangential albeit readable insight into the postwar political system.
Much appreciated. Yeah, the LDP is such a catch-all label, it's hard to imagine its complete demise. Not sure that the DPJ are any better, but surely they can't be worse, can they?
