How to solve the global recession

The LDP's cunning plan to solve the economic mess we are in:

  1. Give everyone a ¥12,000 payment (about a hundred quid) - amounting to ¥2 trillion which they can spend on, er, a week's worth of groceries and a case of shochu.
  2. Spend another ¥6 trillion on unneeded bridges and such (about three hundred quid per person)
  3. Pass the bill on to the next government (or generation).
  4. Wait for Obama to solve everything.
  5. Then flog more stuff to the Yanks.

Brilliant!

While Our Man could sure do with some more booze tokens, methinks the money could be better spent. Hmmm. How about giving the cash only to people laid off so they can feed and clothe their families? That would be good for them and the economy. Oh, but that would be socially responsible, so can't do that.
